I love shows I can “just watch”. Shows that are entertaining and easy to get. But sometimes, I need a show with some wit and complexity. Some well thought out comedy and drama. Sad to say, this country’s viewers would rather have the former. Studio 60 only lasted one season and it barely made it that far. What a shame. The show was created by Aaron Sorkin who also did a wonderfully smart program in the late 90’s into this millennium called The West Wing.
Studio 60 was filled with brilliant actors, whose characters were crafted beautifully. Matthew Perry and Sarah Paulson as the on again-off again relationship who you had no choice but to root for. Bradley Whitford, Amanda Peet, D.L. Hughley, and Timothy Busfield are also fantastic. This show will honestly make you laugh out loud, by yourself even. And it will also make you cry. But in such a good way.
I hope Aaron Sorkin keeps writing shows like this, and more importantly something of this caliber sticks. Definitely do yourself a favor and find this show. ITunes or whatever.
